My ENGLISH your WAY

Pasado el mes del amor =) A POEM FOR BEGINNERS

I am so glad it’s over!

YAY!!!!! GOODBYE February, the month of love, the month of the scary 14th.

In my country, bad luck day isn’t Friday 13th, but Tuesday 13th, and this year, 2018, it was not only proven to be an unlucky day for me but a prelude to the gloomy 14th: Valentine’s day.

As I write this, I begin to wonder what would have been Edgar Allan Poe’s stand on Valentine’s. I bet we would share quite a few insights about the unfortunate date.

I might get to understand in a distant future the meaning of this “special” occasion.  Right now, to me is just a reminder of my loneliness – romantically speaking.

Don’t get me wrong. I AM a Romantic –  I love reading romantic poetry and love watching romantic landscapes; I even talk to the moon! –  But I just happen to dislike romance.

I may have just lost hope, not really lost it, but hid it.  If I ever get the chance to meet someone like “Doctor House” in real life, I guess he would be able to give me a diagnosis, but I am not sure anyone could actually find me a cure.

At this particular point in my life, I am a romantic who does not believe in love.

It is no joke when I say I am truly happy because February is finally over.  Last year my Facebook status was a quote from this 1990’s popular MTV cartoon character called Daria, “Wake me up on the 15”.  This year I decided not to post anything because I would have ended up writing something like, “Wake me up in March.” and, well, I truly do not want anyone to get me wrong.

My usual Facebook status on February 14th.

But here I come again, inspired by the end of the month.  Looking forward to continuing my romance with solitude –  (could it be just a coincidence the fact that I am actually reading “100 years of Solitude”?….Makes me wonder…

Inspired by the love of the unloved, I felt like working on some poetry. And that is why I have prepared this super extra hyper elementary lesson, for true beginners who I hope would like to follow me in this adventure @ Miquette’s English.

Do not worry my dear Intermediate and Advanced learners!  I will soon be posting something for you! ´Cause Inspiration Is back!  Forced love is not in the air anymore! Goodbye Valentine’s! Goodbye Lovers!  Welcome March and the force of natural, unspoken, TRUE LOVE!

I’ll be Poe-sting soon!!!!
